Bajan Surfer Ché Allan has another great Summer
This summer, the young Ché Allan travelled to the East Coast of the United States and excelled in both contests he took part in.
The Rip Curl Grom Search qualifier in New Smyrna Beach, Florida was his first event where he competed in the 12 & Under division, winning ever heat he surfed, and finishing 2nd in the final, surfing through a typical Florida thunderstorm. This qualified him for the Rip Curl National Championship to be held in California in November.
Ché’s next stop on his summer trip was to Virginia Beach to take part in the 50th Annual East Coast Surf Championship (ECSC), the largest and most prestigious surfing event held on the East Coast of the US, with over 900 surfers attending from all over the world. Virginia Beach provided great waves similar to our local Long Beach conditions and Ché took advantage of these conditions, scoring high 8s and 7s all day, again winning every heat to reach the final 4, out of 64 of the best 12 to 14 year old surfers on the East Coast. This ranks him in the top surfers of his age group on the entire East Coast of the USA. This along with taking the Under 16 Caribbean Championship recently in Jamaica and finishing 2nd in the Under 21 Pro Junior division has put the 13 year old at the top of Caribbean Surfing. He is also ranked #2 in the Under 16 and 18 divisions in the just completed local “ Surfer of the Year” (SOTY) series.
Ché has attracted tremendous attention this summer and is looking forward to his first trip to California to broaden his surfing experiences.
Ché would like to thank his North American coach, Daniel Sacchi, his sponsors, Quiksilver and Dragon Alliance as well as the organizers of the ECSC, for hosting, in his words - “ The way coolest event on the East Coast!”
