BAJAN SURFER CHELSEA TUACH CLAIMS FOURTH TITLE IN JAMAICA AND THE CARIBBEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Barbados’ top female surfer, Chelsea Tuach, continues her dominant form in 2012 by taking her fourth international win BAJAN SURFER CHELSEA TUACH CLAIMS FOURTH TITLE IN JAMAICA AND THE CARIBBEAN CHAMPIONSHIP surfinglast week-end at the Sixth Annual Makka Pro surf contest held in Jamaica in conjunction with the Western Atlantic Pro Surf Series (WAPSS). So far this year Chelsea has won the ROXY Women’s Pro held in Florida in April and the Under-18 Girls’ and the Open Women’s Divisions of the Olympus Surf Contest held in Costa Rica in June. She was also Barbados’ top performer at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships held in Panama in April ending an outstanding 11th in the World in the Under-18 Girls’ Division.

Chelsea’s victory in the Open Women’s Division is her fourth consecutive win at this event which she first won in 2008 at the tender age of 12. Second was another Barbadian,  Chelsea Roett, while Chelsea Graham from the USA was third. This victory also secured the overall Caribbean Championship in the Open Women’s Division. The Caribbean Championship consisted of a series of 3 contests held in Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica, with the top performers in each division claiming the Caribbean Championship title. Second in the Open Women’s division was Barbados’ Chelsea Roett while Maud Le Car from the French West Indies was third.

Chelsea is also Barbados’ 2012 Surfer of the Year Champion in both the Under 18 Girls’ and the Open Women’s Divisions after she took a double win at the final Surfer of the Year event held at the Soup Bowl, Bathsheba two weekends ago.

Her next challenge in the Association of Surfing Profesionals (ASP) Paul Mitchell SuperGirl Pro 6 Star Women’s Event in which the worlds’ best professional women surfers will be competing at Oceanside Pier, California, from August 9th to 12th.

Chelsea leaves Barbados on August 7th and will remain in the United States for several weeks as she competes in a number of events on the East and West Coast.
