Bajan teen surfer Josh Burke wins all at NSSA event in Florida

It was business as usual for Barbadian Josh Burke as he surfed his way to a 1st place in the Open Mens division and 1st place in the Open Juniors (15-U)  in his first National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) event which took place in New Smyrna Bajan teen surfer Josh Burke wins all at NSSA event in Florida josh burke junkie journalsBeach, Florida. This was event #5 of the NSSA series.

In the Open Mens, the 7 man final, surfing in 2-3ft powerless surf, Burke out-surfed seasoned NSSA surfer, Noah Schweizer to 2nd place, Cole Gittner 3rd and Robbie Merrell rounded out the top 4.

In the Open Juniors, Burke made light work of the competition, collecting and utilizing the two best waves of the final winning from Michael Romano 2nd, Jonathan Eden 3rd and Colbie Gittner 4th. Burke is competing in the seven event series, however with only three events remaining in the hope of qualifying for the finals in California leaves no room for errors.The Billabong, X-Trak,Vonzipper, Nixon, Futures & Burkie Boards sponsored surfer’s next International event is in mid February at the NSSA event #6.
