BILLABONG SIGNS JOSH BURKE TO SURF TEAM
Barbadian Josh Burke is the newest surfer to sign with the apparel giant Billabong Surf Team! The 14 year old St. Winifred’s school student has been having a very successful year in the waves, showing world class potential with his “textbook ” technique that prominent stake holders in the Worlds surfing industry cannot ignore!

Josh has become the first Barbadian surfer to be officially signed to the Billabong brand, Coach/Manager for Josh, Alan Burke is ecstatic and very proud of this young surfer’s achievements so early in his career! “This is an excellent achievement and opportunity especially when these companies don’t see Barbados as a big market, therefore they don’t usually invest in the just above average surfer, they are looking for world class talent, good school grades and excellent attitudes!” Burke states.”The exposure of being associated with a company as prominent as Billabong will be fantastic for the development of this young athlete!”
As the U-21 and U-16 Barbados National surfing champ Josh will travel to Peru in May to represent Barbados at the ISA World Junior Surfing Games, the Olympics of surfing, it will be the first time on the Barbados National Team,” I am honored to represent Barbados at the World Games, my dad represented Barbados at eight ISA world games, more than anyone in the world,” Josh states proudly!
With a full summer of events, Josh will be catching waves at The 46th Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival at Cocoa Beach in April, Rip curl Gromsearch, New Smyrna Beach in August, The 49th annual East Coast Surfing Championships ,Virginia Beach also in August and the NKF pro at Cocoa Beach in September.
When asked how it feels to be associated with a company as prestigious as Billabong, Josh said “It’s a really good feeling that Billabong wants me on their team, it’s a great opportunity to represent the company that makes the coolest surf gear!”
