Joshua Burke and Jordan Heaselgrave do well in Western Atlantic Pro Surf Series 2011

Junior surfers Joshua Burke and Jordan Heaselgrave displayed quality Barbados surfing in the 2011 Western Atlantic Pro surf series Makka Pro that was held in Yallas, St Thomas Jamaica over the weekend.

14 yr old Burke sponsored by Billabong, X-trak, Vonzipper, Nixon and Burkie Boards, once again showed that he is at a level way beyond his years, surfing his way to a 3rd in the Mens Pro, competing against top pros from throughout the region and USA.

Josh showed his appreciation by donating most of his prizes to top Jamaican junior, 12 year old, Ronald Hastings. This donation included surf equipment and accessories, as well as a surfboard on behalf of his sponsor Burkie Boards through Billy Wilmot’s Surf Camp.

In the U-21 junior pro Burke and Barbadian Jordan Heaselgrave battled it out for Champion status with Heaselgrave making sure he will not be surfed over, collecting two high scoring rides with minutes remaining to secure the win and leaving Burke for the second place finish.

Jensen Callaway of Florida won the mens pro, edging out the points leader of the Western Atlantic Pro surf series Jeremy Johnston, Burke 3rd and local surf star Jamaican Icah Wilmot 4th. The U-21 junior pro the two bajans took first and second with Jamaican’s Shane Simmons and Akeem Philips taking 3rd and 4th respectively.
