Pro Skater Carlos Leon is coming back to Barbados
In 2009, Orlando-based, pro skater Carlos Leon came to Barbados to film and shred the island with Paul Irie Wilson. He enjoyed it so much that he’s planning another trip to the Caribbean to rip the streets of Bim once again.
Adrenaline Sun linked up with Carlos and he told us what’s been going on with him since his last visit and how he plans to spend his time in Barbados.
Why do you love skating in the Caribbean?
The people are really cool. When I was in Barbados, me and Paul Irie Wilson just went around filming and never got kicked out of any spots. It’s just easy living.
Name your 3 favorite tricks
Hmmmm, Big Flip, Tre Flip, S/W Heel.
If Adrenaline Sun was to go to Miami where would you take us to skate?
I would take you guys to skate at two of my favorite spots in MIA, The Orange Peels and The Rooftop Banks.
Tell me about your biggest most memorable trick.
When I ollied one of the longest staircases in Orlando. It’s so crazy that in my head I still can’t believe that I did it. Got it in 4 tries and I’m still the only one to do it to this day! I’ll take you to see where it is if you guys ever come up.
Ever got any serious injuries?
Nah, knock on wood for luck (or push it at least
). The one that sticks out in my mind right now is when I fell flat on my back when I was skating in Silversands (Barbados) at the Irie One Mini Ramp. I fell hard and kinda got the air knocked out of me but I never got too hurt where it would stop me from pushing the next day.
You’ll be in Barbados later this year. Describe the perfect day for Carlos Leon in Bim.
Well, get up in the morning and drink my coffee then head to the F Spot to warm up. Go down Speightstown and get caught up with Paul (Irie Wilson), the Irie One Team and the Movement Skaters and session. After a great day of skating, I’m definitely looking forward to the night life. I’ll probably end up mostly in the Gap (St. Lawrence) partying and probably enjoying a hamburger. I actually wish I had one right about now.
Tell me about your sponsors.
I ride for Rockstar Bearings, Galagtic G Shop, Outlook Skate board, Flow -thurder truck, Flow- Rogue Status, Osiris (thanks to Phllip Ramsey) and Kush Diet.
Why do you skate?
It’s my life and I enjoy every minute of it. If it wasn’t for my board I doubt that I would be here answering these questions. It’s the irie love for it so I’m going to try to push until my legs give out.
Who would you most like to teach how to skate… Rihanna, Beyonce, Avril Lavine, Nikki Minaj or Katie Perry? and say Why?
Wow, I don’t know… Rihanna, so we can kick it in Barbados because the skate spot there is crazy and the summer’s really good …. in love with the king fish and chips..mmmmmm
Any last words
